"I first stayed in the Queens back in the early 1980s when I was on tour with my theatre company. I loved the place. Love at first sight. Working in theatre meant that I never had the money to stay in such a beautiful hotel, but come the new millennium and some generous research grants and I was back! I visited three or four times a year between 2007 and 2015 and always stayed at The Queens. There used to be a doorman called Colin. He remembered everyone’s name. One felt very special. Why The Queens? The staff are always friendly. I have never encountered a grumpy or unfriendly member of staff. The rooms are decorated in such an original way. There is attention to detail and a respect for the Art Deco architecture and fittings. And after the refurbishment it is even better. Little problems with plumbing have been resolved and the place is plush and elegant. If you want style and comfort then The Queens is the place to stay!
